63349282F099.JPG Reverend André P. Jefferson Sr.
M. Div., Pastor
Rev. André Pierre Jefferson, Sr. is the son of the late Rev. Dr. Henry E. Jefferson and Doretha Turner. Rev. Jefferson accepted the call to preach in May 1989 as a member of St. Mark AME Church in Virginia Beach, VA, where his father was pastor. He is a graduate of Norfolk State University, receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Public School Music Education in 1989 and a Masters of Divinity Degree from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University in 1993. He also has also done further graduate study at Villanova University. This annual conference year, Rev. Jefferson celebrated his eighteen year in the ministry and his fifteenth as a pastor in the AME Church. He has been the pastor of four AME churches in Virginia. In each pastorate there were notable, spiritual, financial achievements and many souls have come into the kingdom through his ministry. On July 2001 he was appointed the 47th pastor of historic Bethel AME Church in Hampton, VA. He serves as treasurer for the Conference, the Conference Finance Committee, and Judicial Review Board. In addition, he was elected a Virginia Conference Trustee in 2002. He also serves as coordinator for the Sons of Allen for the Virginia Conference and Second Episcopal District. He is a sought after evangelist and is known for his down to earth and relevant preaching style. A dedicated family man, Rev. Jefferson is married to the former Tracey Brown of Virginia Beach, VA. They have two wonderful children: André Jr. (15), a talented clarinet and saxophone player and Alexus Diane (8), a budding clarinet player. Rev. Jefferson is an accomplished saxophone player and adheres to the call in Psalms 150 that we praise the Lord through the musical instrument. Wherever he goes, his horn cannot be too far behind. Rev. Jefferson looks forward to leading Bethel in the God sent vision to build a new church edifice to enhance the vital ministry at Bethel A.M.E. Church. His desire is to be used as a vessel to show the world the love of Jesus Christ.
