About Bethel A.M.E. Church

The family at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.), located in beautiful downtown Hampton, Virginia is pleased to have this opportunity to share with you important information about our Mission and our Ministry. We certainly invite all to come and be a part of the Body of Christ here at Bethel. We are a family of believers who place as a priority the spiritual growth and development of every Christian through prayer, praise, worship and service.

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a member of the vast number of A.M.E. Churches around the world. Our Motto: "God our Father, Christ our Redeemer, The Holy Spirit our Comforter, Humankind our Family" expresses our desire to be inclusive of all God's children.

We invite you to come and witness the dynamic ministry manifested by God through our Pastor, the Reverend André P. Jefferson, Sr. His pastoral preaching/teaching emphases include:

  • Prioritizing - God first!
  • Spiritual power through the growth and development of every individual's relationship with Christ!
  • Development of Spiritual gifts and Christian leadership for the Church and community!
  • Christian Nurturing and training for our greatest resource - our Young People!
  • Changing the world by following the examples of Jesus through Unity, Humility and Obedience in every facet of our lives!

From God’s Holy Word: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? …Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:35, 37-39
